On Tuesday, Representative Bell hosted several pastors from the community for a first-of-its-kind Pastor Day at the Capitol. Also in attendance was Representative Keough, himself a pastor. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the state of the state and the role of church in politics. The meeting was conducted on the House floor, sending a powerful message.
“We must be a prayerful nation,” said Rep. Bell. “During an election and during session we should be hearing from our pastors on issues that matter to their parishioners.”
According to Rep. Keough, there are 80 million active Christians in America. Of those, 40 million are registered to vote. Of those, only 20 million regularly cast a ballot.
Pastor John Postel agreed with Rep. Bell, saying “it is good stewardship to rally around those we elect.”
